Omar is a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Engineering & Informatics. He received a first class B.Sc. Hons. degree in Software Development Applications in 2007 from the University of Bradford. He was then awarded a PhD in 2011 for his research in the solar flare prediction domain based on image processing, machine learning, and feature extraction techniques.
Omar is experienced in exploiting image processing and machine learning algorithms for solar data and medical data analysis, and image search and retrieval. His research interests include; employing image processing and data mining algorithms for multidisciplinary investigations.
